New collective bargaining agreement at International School of Luxembourg
MORE BENEFITS FOR THE STAFF
If the negotiation of the last CBA took nearly two years, its renewal was quickly done. The process was completed in two months, under the responsibility of OGBL and with the participation of LCGB. The result is a rather good one.
From September 1st 2007 all ISL-employees included in the CBA will benefit from:
- the introduction of a complimentary pension scheme in which the school will contribute 5% of the employee's base annual remuneration, tax and charges included - the employees have the choice between making no contributions or making a monthly contribution;
- a flat monthly increase to all steps of the salary scales:
100€ for the professional staff and nurse = 1,59% to 4,59%
75€ for the administrative staff = 1,75% to 4,28%
50€ for the teacher assistants = 1,76% to 2,71%;
- the addition of two steps to the top of each salary scale - every step being equal to a 1% increase;
- the introduction of a supplementary day of extraordinary leave for fathers at the birth or adoption of a child (raised from the legal allowance of 2 days to 3).
For the period of the new agreement, effective 1 September 2007 until 31 August 2010, the additional leave time, beyond the legal entitlement over the time frame from 1 August to 31 July each year, will be :
2007-2008 = 41 days
2008-2009 = 40 days
2009-2010 = 39 days
The additional leave time varies due a leap year and the irregular number of weekend days. The number of working days however remains the same each year.
The 80% increase in stipends, that was already applied since September 2006, was also fixed in the CBA.
Last but not least, overseas-recruited professional staff will benefit from an increase in the relocation allowance making it €1.375 for teachers in single status and €2.100 for heads of households.
The negotiations between the Board of Governors and the trade unions, supported by the delegates Anne-Marie Berny, Ralf Gehlen, Seth Ruef, Alice Philippi (all OGBL) and JoAnne Cordner (LCGB), took place in a good climate. The CBA was signed on 6th of July 2007.
